Interviewed by The Editors at The Rappahannock Review (ISSUE 12.1 FALL 2024) as to what inspired Secrets of the Sea, Engelhardt responded, “I think I was daydreaming about our annual beach trip . . . and thought how thrilling it would be to find a piece of treasure, what would I do if I found something, what would others do, in particular those who have some experience in beachcombing and treasure hunting. How would they react?” The full interview can be found on their Contributor Spotlight page.
Drawing from career experiences ranging from CFO of a branch of an international corporation, working on sailboats, managing an art gallery, stage acting, and making furniture, Engelhardt now puts his unique vision of life into photography and writing.
Whether wandering with a camera in search of that one particular photograph that captures the offbeat and the unusual or sitting at a desk crafting a story, Engelhardt enjoys telling the tale, “I am at heart a storyteller.”
When not traveling, Duane M. Engelhardt and his wife Kit live in Denver, Colorado, while working on short stories and his novel “Trade Winds.”
